Case Manager makes use of services running on the server – specifically the Time Server and the Queue Server. These servers provide centralised functionality beyond that which the database can provide, with the drawback of requiring additional setup on the server. Up to this point, the servers could run as normal console applications or as installed Windows Services. In Case Manager 5.2 installing and managing these services have now been greatly simplified.

The most important thing to know is that it is now very easy to install Time and Queue servers as services. You will notice a new install.bat file in these services which will install and start the server as a service. The newly released technical guide "Case Manager 5.2: Windows Services" covers these changes in detail. You can find the guide in our technical guides section.
